Powerful Dozers for Grading, Clearing, and Site Preparation

Alpine Equipment Repair provides dozer rentals for commercial contractors, land developers, and excavation companies throughout Utah. From finish grading residential lots to clearing raw acreage for commercial development, we carry the crawler dozers you need to move earth efficiently and get your project on schedule. Our fleet serves job sites across the Wasatch Front — from Draper and Sandy in Salt Lake County through American Fork, Lehi, and Provo in Utah County.

Our dozer fleet includes small D3-D4 class machines ideal for tight residential sites and finish work, as well as mid-size D5-D6 class dozers built for heavy production grading, mass earthwork, and large-scale land clearing. Every dozer is maintained and inspected by our in-house technicians before it ships to your site. We keep blades sharp, undercarriages tight, and hydraulics serviced so you get maximum pushing power from hour one.

Whether you need a dozer for a weekend pad pour or a multi-month subdivision build, we offer flexible daily, weekly, and monthly rental terms with delivery anywhere in Salt Lake County and Utah County. Utah's construction season runs hard from March through November, and our rental fleet is sized to keep machines available when you need them. Choose the Right Dozer for Your Project

Small Dozers (D3-D4 Class)

For Residential Sites & Finish Grading

Small dozers in the D3-D4 class deliver enough blade capacity to shape building pads, spread base material, and fine-grade residential lots — without tearing up finished areas or overwhelming tight sites. Their lower ground pressure and compact profile make them the go-to choice when you need precision over raw pushing power. These machines excel on Utah's residential build sites, where lots are often tightly spaced and adjacent landscaping or utilities must be protected. A 6-way blade on a D3-D4 allows operators to angle, tilt, and pitch the blade for ditching, backfilling, and finish grading in a single pass.

Best For:

  • Residential lot grading and building pad prep
  • Finish grading and final contouring
  • Backfilling around foundations and utilities
  • Small retention ponds and drainage swales
  • Landscape rough-in and topsoil spreading
  • Driveway and pad subgrade preparation

Operating Weight: ~17,000–22,000 lbs | Blade Width: 7.5–8.5 ft

Mid-Size Dozers (D5-D6 Class)

For Commercial Sites, Mass Grading & Land Clearing

Mid-size dozers in the D5-D6 range are the workhorse machines for commercial site prep, subdivision mass grading, and land clearing. These units push serious yardage while still being transportable on a standard lowboy trailer. Rippers, winches, and PAT blades are available depending on the application. For Utah's commercial development boom — from warehouse parks in Salt Lake County to master-planned communities in Utah County — a D5 or D6 provides the production rates that keep projects on schedule and earthwork budgets in check. Single-shank rippers break through cemented gravel and hardpan layers common along the Wasatch Front bench areas.

Best For:

  • Commercial building pad construction
  • Mass grading and cut-fill earthwork
  • Land clearing, brush pushing, and stump removal
  • Road and utility corridor rough grading
  • Stockpile management and material spreading
  • Pond and basin construction
  • Subdivision rough and mass grading

Operating Weight: ~28,000–44,000 lbs | Blade Width: 10–12 ft

Common Dozer Rental Applications

Residential Lot Grading

Shape building pads, establish drainage slopes, and fine-grade home sites to engineered specifications before foundation work begins. Small dozers handle tight residential lots without damaging adjacent improvements.

Commercial Site Prep

Move large volumes of earth for commercial building pads, parking lots, and building footprints. Mid-size D5-D6 dozers handle cut-fill operations efficiently on Utah's commercial and industrial development sites.

Land Clearing

Push brush, trees, and debris to clear raw land for residential and commercial development. D5-D6 class dozers equipped with rippers handle roots, stumps, and rocky ground common in Utah's foothill areas.

Road & Utility Corridors

Rough-grade access roads, utility easements, and infrastructure corridors. Dozers create consistent grades across long runs quickly, making them essential for road subgrade preparation and utility right-of-way clearing.

Retention Ponds & Basins

Excavate and shape stormwater detention basins, retention ponds, and engineered drainage features required by municipal stormwater permits. Dozers are significantly faster than excavators for large-area, shallow-depth earthwork.

Stockpile & Material Management

Build, shape, and spread aggregate stockpiles, topsoil, and fill material across the site.

Dozer Rental FAQs

What size dozer do I need for residential grading?
For most residential lots and individual building pads, a D3-D4 class dozer is the right choice. These machines have enough blade capacity to shape building pads and establish drainage grades, but they're compact enough to work on tight lots without damaging adjacent landscaping or improvements. If you're grading an entire subdivision with heavy cut-fill earthwork, a D5-D6 will move significantly more material per hour and keep your project on schedule.
Can a dozer clear trees and brush?
Yes. Mid-size dozers (D5-D6 class) are commonly used for land clearing. They can push over small to medium trees, pile brush, and rip stumps. For heavy timber or very large trees, you may also need a separate felling operation. Call us and describe your clearing project — we'll recommend the right approach.
Do I need a CDL to transport a dozer?
You do not transport the dozer yourself. We deliver and pick up all dozers on our lowboy trailers with our own experienced drivers. Delivery is charged at $165/hour and we handle all the logistics.
Is the dozer GPS-ready for grade control?
Many of our dozers are compatible with GPS grade control systems from Trimble and Topcon. If your project requires machine-guided grading, let us know when you book — we'll confirm the specific machine and mounting compatibility for your system.
What's the difference between a 6-way blade and a PAT blade?
A 6-way blade angles left/right and tilts in addition to raising and lowering, making it ideal for finish grading, ditching, and backfilling. A PAT (Power Angle Tilt) blade adds pitch adjustment for more aggressive cutting or carrying. Tell us what kind of grading work you're doing and we'll set you up with the right blade configuration.
How long does delivery take?
Delivery is typically scheduled within 24-48 hours of booking, depending on availability. For urgent needs, call us directly at (801) 701-7394 and we'll do our best to accommodate same-day or next-day delivery.
