Every Type of Aerial Lift — One Local Source

Alpine Equipment Repair is American Fork's local source for aerial lift rentals. We carry scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towable lifts so you can access elevated work areas safely and efficiently — whether you're working inside a warehouse, outside on a construction site, or on a property maintenance project that needs a portable solution. With our yard right here in American Fork, you get faster delivery, lower transport costs, and same-day availability that national rental chains dispatching from distant distribution centers simply cannot match.

Choosing the right aerial lift depends on your working height, the reach you need, ground conditions, and whether you're working indoors or outdoors. Scissor lifts go straight up and give you a large, stable platform. Boom lifts reach up and out — over obstacles, around corners, and into tight spots. Towable lifts travel behind your pickup truck so you can move between job sites without scheduling separate deliveries. Our team helps contractors, facility managers, and property owners select the right machine every day. If you're not sure which lift type fits your project, call us at (801) 701-7394 and we'll walk you through the options in minutes.

All of our aerial lifts are maintained and safety-inspected by our JLG-authorized technicians right here in our American Fork shop. We rent by the day, week, or month with delivery to job sites across Utah County and Salt Lake County. Whether your project is a one-day ceiling repair or a six-month commercial build that needs multiple lift types at different phases, we have the fleet depth and the flexibility to keep your crew working at height safely.

Types of Aerial Lifts Available

Scissor Lifts

Stable Elevated Platforms — Vertical Lift Only

Scissor lifts raise a wide, stable work platform straight up. They provide more deck space than boom lifts, making them ideal for tasks where you need to spread out tools and materials at height. Electric slab models are designed for indoor use on smooth floors — quiet, zero-emission, and available with non-marking tires that protect finished surfaces. Rough terrain models feature 4-wheel drive and foam-filled tires for outdoor construction sites with gravel, slopes, and uneven ground.

Best For:

  • Warehouse maintenance, racking, and lighting
  • HVAC and electrical installation
  • Painting, drywall, and ceiling work
  • Retail store setup and signage
  • Any job where you need a large, stable platform directly above the machine

Platform Heights: 19 ft to 40 ft

Boom Lifts

Articulating & Telescopic — Horizontal Reach and Height

Boom lifts extend up and out, giving you the ability to reach over obstacles, around structures, and into areas that scissor lifts simply cannot access. Articulating booms bend at one or more knuckle joints for working around corners, overhangs, and building setbacks — ideal when the machine cannot be positioned directly below the work area. Telescopic (straight) booms offer maximum reach height and horizontal outreach for open areas where you need to get high and far from the base.

Best For:

  • Steel erection and structural work at height
  • Tree trimming and arborist access
  • Building exterior maintenance, painting, and caulking
  • Window installation and curtain wall work
  • Bridge and overpass inspection
  • Any job requiring up-and-over or lateral reach

Working Heights: 34 ft to 60+ ft | Horizontal Reach: 20 ft to 40+ ft

Towable / Trailer-Mounted Lifts

Portable Access — Easy Transport Between Sites

Towable lifts mount on a trailer chassis that you tow behind a pickup truck or work vehicle. They set up quickly with hydraulic outriggers, require no CDL to transport, and work well for property maintenance, light construction, and facility work where you move between multiple locations in a day or week. For property managers, landscapers, and small contractors, a towable lift eliminates the cost of scheduling multiple deliveries — you take the lift where you need it, when you need it.

Best For:

  • Property management and multi-site maintenance
  • Light and sign installation
  • Gutter cleaning and exterior painting
  • Event setup and banner installation
  • Small contractors who need an affordable lift solution

Working Heights: 34 ft to 55 ft | Tow Behind Standard Pickup

Common Aerial Lift Applications

Commercial Construction

Steel erection, exterior framing, curtain wall installation, and mechanical rough-in. Boom lifts provide the reach; scissor lifts provide the platform space.

Facility Maintenance

HVAC servicing, lighting replacement, sprinkler inspection, and overhead repairs in warehouses, factories, and commercial buildings.

Painting & Exterior Work

Reach high walls, soffits, and building exteriors safely. Boom lifts handle multi-story buildings; scissor lifts cover wide interior wall sections.

Electrical & Mechanical

Install wiring, conduit, ductwork, and piping at height. Scissor lift platforms hold tools, materials, and multiple workers.

Tree Care & Landscaping

Articulating boom lifts give arborists and landscapers safe access to canopy height for trimming, removal, and inspection.

Property Management

Towable lifts let property managers handle gutter cleaning, signage, lighting, and repairs across multiple sites without renting a separate lift at each location.

Aerial Lift Rental FAQs

What's the difference between a scissor lift and a boom lift?
Scissor lifts go straight up and provide a large, stable work platform — ideal for indoor work and jobs where you're directly above the machine. Boom lifts extend up and out with an articulating or telescopic arm, giving you horizontal reach to work over obstacles, around buildings, and into hard-to-access areas. If you need to reach up and over something, you need a boom lift. If you need a big platform directly above where the machine sits, a scissor lift is your best option.
How do I choose the right aerial lift for my job?
Consider four things: (1) Working height — how high do you need to reach? (2) Horizontal reach — do you need to extend outward, or just go straight up? (3) Indoor or outdoor — indoor jobs usually call for electric scissor lifts; outdoor jobs may need rough terrain scissors or boom lifts. (4) Portability — if you're moving between sites, a towable lift may be the most efficient option. Call us at (801) 701-7394 and we'll narrow it down in minutes.
Can I tow a towable lift with my truck?
Yes. Most towable lifts can be towed by a standard 1/2-ton pickup truck with a 2-inch ball hitch. No CDL is required. We'll confirm the tow rating and hitch requirements when you book.
Do operators need certification for aerial lifts?
OSHA requires operators to be trained on the specific type of aerial lift they'll use. This applies to scissor lifts, boom lifts, and towable lifts. Many companies handle training internally. If you need training resources, ask us and we can point you to OSHA-compliant options.
Can I rent multiple lift types for one project?
Absolutely. Many commercial projects use a combination of scissor lifts for interior work and boom lifts for exterior access. We'll quote all the units together and coordinate delivery schedules to match your project phases.
What's included with the rental?
All aerial lifts include standard safety equipment — harness lanyards, platform controls, and operating manuals. Fuel or battery charge is provided at delivery. You return the machine with a full tank or charged battery, or we can charge a refueling fee.
